Orange Cauliflower

This recipe will get you obsessed with cauliflower! I could not stop eating this. Definitely try out BBQ cauliflower as well!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole cauliflower
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Spring onion and sesame seeds for garnish

Orange sauce

  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar
  • 1 tbsp ginger powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch, mixed in 1/4 cup water

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C.
  2. Cut the head of cauliflower into bite-size florets.
  3. Mix the water, flour and garlic powder in a small bowl and remove any clumps.
  4. In a separate bowl add the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Dip each piece of cauliflower into the batter and coat it in panko breadcrumbs and put it on a greased baking tray. Continue this process for all of the cauliflower pieces.
  6. Bake the cauliflower for around 30 minutes.
  7. While the cauliflower is baking, on medium heat in a large saucepan, add the orange juice, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, garlic powder, ginger powder, raw sugar and salt. Mix well.
  8. Slowly add in the cornstarch water and stir to thicken the sauce.
  9. Take the cauliflower out of the oven and put all of the pieces into the saucepan, coating all of the pieces in the sauce.
  10. Take the pan off the heat and serve the cauliflower with rice and garnish with spring onion and sesame seeds.
